Better policy - better services.
Lived and living experience knows what's needed.
Victoria relies on lived and living experience to shape better alcohol and other drug (AOD) policies. But a 40 per cent funding cut has put APSU’s crucial work at risk. People who have experienced challenges with alcohol and other drugs (as well as their families and supporters) know what works, where the gaps in the system are – and what needs to change. Help us call on political candidates to fund APSU this state election.Â

Why is funding APSU important?
APSU ensures people have a meaningful say in shaping the alcohol and other drug (AOD) policies and services that impact their lives. The government relies on APSU to contribute to research, advisory groups, consultations, and service design. Without sustainable funding, this work is at risk, limiting the voices of people with lived and living experience and weakening the support available across services and communities.Â
It's time to fund APSU for the work it does
We call on Victorian political candidates to restore APSU’s funding and establish a sustainable funding arrangement that recognises APSU as the leading voice for people with lived and living experience of alcohol and other drug use in Victoria.
