About North East Metro Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect North East

A partnership between AccessHC (lead agency), Self Help Addiction Resource Centre (SHARC), and healthAbility, the North East Metro Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect was established in 2023 as a service for families, carers, supporters and kin of people challenged by mental health and/or alcohol and other drug use. One of eight “Connect centres” across Victoria, funded by the Department of Health and co-designed by people with a lived/living experience of being family members and carers, the service was a key recommendation from the Victorian Mental Health Royal Commission.

This unique service has a workforce made up primarily of people with a lived/living experience of being a family member/carer (70%) and offers peer support, family counselling, service navigation and referrals, groups, events and workshops.
