SHARC is a unique peer led organization. Since its establishment, SHARCs model of practice and service delivery has been underpinned by peer support. All of SHARCs current programs are based on the inherent value of lived experience. Current initiatives encompass peer workforce development and support, peer mentorship and education and peer support capacity building.

The Peer Worker will be a vital part of the Peer Projects team. They will be involved in the development and delivery of a number of projects, events and trainings. They will provide invaluable support for the Peer Mentors across the projects and work closely with the Peer Projects team to identify peer worker needs and advocate for the lived experience workforce movement.

The new Peer Worker will receive SHARCs Peer Worker Training and Intentional Peer Support Core Training as part of their employment. Lived experience of issues related to alcohol or other drugs (AOD) is a key requirement of this role, as well as a tertiary qualification in AOD such as a Certificate IV or relevant field.
